Privacy policy

Last updated: 9 September 2026

This policy explains how Outstanding Science uses personal information when you use this website, create or use an account, buy resources, contact us, or receive a relevant school communication from us.

Who we are and how to contact us

Outstanding Science provides primary science teaching resources. For questions about this policy or your information, email contact@outstandingscience.co.uk.

Our postal address is 128 Gordon Drive, Dovecot, Liverpool, England, L14 7PZ.

Information we use

Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

  • contact details such as a name, email address, school or organisation details, and correspondence;
  • account information such as a username and an authentication password hash;
  • purchase, subscription, invoice, receipt, and resource-access information;
  • technical and usage information such as IP address, requested pages, referrer, and session information; and
  • marketing objections and unsubscribe records.

Why we use information

We use this information to provide the website and purchased resources, manage accounts and subscriptions, process payments and orders, respond to enquiries, protect the service from misuse, maintain business and tax records, and improve the website.

Our legal basis depends on the activity. It may be necessary to perform a contract with you or your organisation, comply with a legal obligation, pursue a legitimate interest in operating and protecting Outstanding Science, or rely on consent where we specifically ask for it.

School communications

We may occasionally send a relevant, school-focused communication to a current generic school or organisation inbox, where we believe that route is appropriate. We do not use historic personal customer email addresses for this school programme.

Every such message identifies Outstanding Science, provides a working reply address, and includes a simple way to object or unsubscribe. We keep a permanent suppression record so that an address which opts out is not contacted again for marketing. That register uses a protected matching value rather than a second plain-text copy of the email address.

Who may receive information

We use service providers where necessary to run the website, host data, process payments, and deliver email. They may process information only for those services. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights, users, or service.

How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including account support, contractual, legal, tax, and record-keeping requirements. We retain marketing objections for as long as needed to make sure they are honoured.

Your choices and rights

You may ask us about the information we hold about you, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, request deletion where applicable, restrict or object to certain processing, or object to direct marketing at any time. You may also have a right to data portability in some circumstances.

To make a request, email contact@outstandingscience.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No internet service can be completely secure, but access to customer and account information is restricted to what is needed to operate and support the service.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or legal obligations change. The current version and its update date will be published on this page.
